We're Robert and Melissa. In the summer of 2023, we made the leap to off-grid living in Downeast Maine — starting with nothing but 26 acres of raw land and a 16x28 canvas wall tent to get us through our first Maine winter.
Since then, we've been building our homestead from the ground up — we've raised chickens and are currently building out the infrastructure to bring sheep onto the property and scale up our flock. Every season brings new projects and new lessons.
We're far from done, and we'd never claim to be experts — but we've learned a lot about what works and what doesn't when it comes to off-grid living up here.
